There is always more to writing than
perfect lives and happy fairytales
Some stories are told for lessons, some are told for entertainment, and some for mystery. Then there is contemporary fiction. To put it the plainest way possible, it's really weird stories, with really screwed up characters. Normally, the characters are humans who are flawed by many issues. It focuses on portraying real world problems through the character's personalities. The time period that contemporary fiction takes place in is usually from 1960 to present time. These stories provoke the reader to think about their lives and what impacts them the most.
